I've had my Touareg for about five years now and it's been an absolute tank, handled everything I've thrown at it from desert driving to long family road trips, but recently the transmission has started acting up and it's got me really concerned. It's developed this hesitation when I accelerate from a standstill, almost like it's taking an extra second to engage before it pulls away, and sometimes I feel a bit of a jolt when it changes from first to second gear. I've had the transmission fluid changed at the recommended intervals so I'm hoping it's not something serious like the torque converter starting to fail, but I'm also aware that these ZF boxes can have valve body issues as they age. The thing that's worrying me is that I've heard so many stories about people taking their VWs to places that don't really understand these transmissions and ending up with bigger problems than they started with, or paying for expensive repairs that didn't actually fix the issue. I really need to find somewhere that knows these cars properly and has experience with the Touareg specifically, because it's such a complex vehicle with so many systems that interact with each other. I'm in Abu Dhabi and I've been told that finding a premium Volkswagen specialist in Abu Dhabi is the way to go for these kinds of issues, because they'll have the right diagnostic tools and knowledge to actually pinpoint the problem rather than just guessing. Has anyone else experienced transmission hesitation or rough shifting on their Touareg and managed to get it resolved? I'd love to know what the fix ended up being and where you took it, because I'm genuinely stressed about this and I don't want to end up with a massive repair bill.
